Marlene Markos at Thriller Villa, Las Vegas

Last week I had the rare opportunity to perform at Thriller Villa with the Gregg Peterson Trio for a corporate event. Originally known as Hacienda Palomino, Thriller Villa is a mansion tucked away in the middle of Las Vegas on a 1.7 acre compound. Michael Jackson and his family were the last residents to live there in 2007, when he was negotiating a residency on the Strip. Currently the property is managed by the Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts and is open to private tours and to host private functions.

In addition to gourmet Hors d’Oeuvres, gaming tables and our live music, the guests were treated to guided tours of Thriller Villa and the museum which were filled with pictures, props, and memorabilia of both Michael Jackson and Liberace. I really wanted to go on a tour, but at least I was able to explore some rooms on my breaks. Here are some personal photos I took to remember my experience at Thriller Villa that I’d love to share.

We performed in the King’s Courtyard, an open square lined with trees enclosed by the Hacienda walls. In the center was a fountain and also featured was a marble statue of children riding a crescent moon called Hijos de la Luna.

The Grand Salon is a gorgeous living room that guests were able to sit and relax in. This space featured a beautiful Murano glass chandelier and stone fireplace with a portrait of Michael Jackson above the mantle. Three of Liberace’s rare antique pianos from the museum collection were also on display.

In my opinion the most striking space at Thriller Villa was Neverland Chapel, a two-story performance theater designed and constructed by a Las Vegas theater developer. Themed as a chapel, it is adorned with candles, angels, patron saints and seats 74 guests.

The guests entered Thriller Villa through wooden double doors that led into the Foyer. Two more of Liberace’s beautiful grand pianos were on display as well as a life size painting of Michael Jackson which I had the chance to pose with. It was a bit chilly that day, so on my last break I cozied up next to the fireplace which kept me nice and warm.

The last area I photographed was the Green Room which was our actual green room for the event. It was a large room with lots of comfortable seating, mirrors and a full bath. It had pictures of Michael Jackson and his famous friends and will definitely be my most memorable green room of all time.

I love being a singer because of all the amazing events and places I have the honor to perform at. I hope you enjoyed my behind the scenes photos and sharing my experience with you.

I have read the Liberace Museum Collection Tour at Thriller Villa is an amazing experience. I would love to hear if you have had the chance to visit this magnificent property.

Best,
Marlene
